1805- Moses Armstrong House

Location: 6110 Asheville Highway, Knoxville

The Moses Armstrong House was built in 1805. On the website for the Knox County Metropolitan Planning Commission, there is a document called the East County Sector Plan. This house is discussed on page 24:

Moses Armstrong House:

Located on the banks of the Holston River, at 6110 Asheville Highway, this 1805 two-story brick house represents a transportation historic resource because of its association with Armstrong Ferry. Moses, the son of Robert Armstrong, an original settler and Revolutionary War veteran, was a farmer and owner of Armstrong Ferry.

I haven't had the opportunity to go out and photograph this house yet. In the meantime, here is a screen shot that I saved from Google Maps. It's not a very good picture at all; it's dark, and the house is mostly blocked by trees and a big sign, but it's the best I can do for now.

I found a better picture online, in the Picasa web album for Knox Heritage. Click here to see it.
