right here out in front,
trawling, sinking below the great Missouri River Reservoir–
today’s the grand opening
this hot July morning
we pull into town
commin down from so far up,
red eyed and feelin no pain no more–
free open winds of the American Highway Night
and we rode that boat beyond casualties
beyond gears spinnin and oil leakin,
dialed into the perfect time (4/4)
makin headway to wherever she needed to go
lucky this wagon and crew found that groove
that must be forged
that balances between man and machine,
this time the gas peddle right foot was lighter
no hesitation,
all tanks filled to the max with extra octane
