Candle
Candle
a candle wavers
dusk descends
grim singular eye inside dead face
staring back into the coming gloom,
unblinkingly stoic
yet magnificent despite eternity’s graveyard
a singular light donating fleeting glimpses of life
resurrected from somnambulant souls
an eye in a pyramid
prism rays saturating mindful masterpiece eclipses
longing for rest inside the fading daylight
soon night streams in
to a thawed candle,
a demolished ocean of ivorysand
leaving only disembodied survivors
and shadows are trapped inside its waves of continual rebirth
fixated on another beginning
inside its cyclic seasons of ocean swells:
infinite candle once blazing now complacent,
quenched candle once imperishable now mortal
miles along a staggered beach,
a Platonic candle stretches endlessly
to where lost sailors, blinded by perfect light,
memorize elegiac manuscripts
recalling visionary tomes,
recite scrolls of sweetness gone demonic
and soon these blinded seafarers,
candles faltering,
swirl beyond sentience before their grateful drown,
ashes returning to
the waxen cadaverous reservoir
