In general, letters can be sent from town to town, at a fairly nominal cost - perhaps a gold for a letter or small package. To communicate at much longer distances, there are magical postal services that can communicate to most cities in Pendria, Westria and Centaria for 100 gold - the sender writes out whatever they wish, or wraps a package (the service will examine any packages, and will not transport magical items). The service at the other end will attempt delivery of the package or letter, and will return it with an explanation if that fails.
