In late December 1167, all of the restrictions below vanished. There has been no definite word on the cause.
Crystalle, the lord of the mineral planes, had intended to completely cut his plane off from the prime material, which would have had a great effect on many kinds of magic. However, due to the help of the mortals in a battle with the lord of the earth elemental plane, Ogremoch, he modified this plan somewhat.
Once the battles on the Prime are over, the break between the planes will remain. However, the help from the mortals will have earned the thanks of Crystalle, and he will modify the ritual he had planned to cast, to cut off the Mineral plane from the Prime. Instead, the connection will be left open – but it will be much weaker.
Changes will include:
1. Stoneskin will now be much weaker. It will protect from only one hit, and that hit will stop no more than five points of damage per level of the caster. Any additional damage will have normal effect. Note this is effectively retroactive, to existing spells, scrolls, and so on.
2. Ironskin will now be much weaker. It will protection from only two hits, and those hits will stop no more than five points of damage per level of the caster. Any additional damage will have normal effect. Note this is effectively retroactive, to existing spells, scrolls, and so on.
3. Multiple Stoneskin will now be much weaker. It will protect from only one hit per spell, and that hit will stop no more than five points of damage per level of the caster. Any additional damage will have normal effect. Note this is effectively retroactive, to existing spells, scrolls, and so on.
4. Spells or abilities which pull mineral creatures or items from the mineral plane will be much weaker. Creature-summoning spells will fail 80 percent of the time that they would have formerly succeeded. Items that summon minerals will fail 80 percent of the time also; this failure will still use up a charge, periodic use, or whatever is appropriate. This failure chance will not be alterable by other spells or items.
5. Spells or abilities that allow traffic to the mineral plane will fail to work 80% of the time.
6. All known live volcanoes, steam vents, and the like will become more active due to this event – Ogremoch is angry, and the prime will suffer because of it!
