Ranger expansion
Starting immediately upon the completion of discussion with the group, a Ranger can be of any alignment except true Neutral. Rangers gain a bonus on damage against certain groups of creatures dependent upon alignment.
L/G, C/G, N/G - +level on damage vs. giant class
L/E, C/E, N/E - +level on damage vs. demi-humans, fae and woodland humanoids
L/N - +level on damage vs. chaotic monsters not including any of the above
C/N - +level on damage vs. lawful monsters not including any of the above
For purposes of the latter two, ‘monster’ does not include creatures that exist in the real world – humans, animals (lions, elephants, snakes, and so on), and the like, but is intended to apply to only imaginary creatures and giant, large, huge (etc.) versions of real creatures.
I do not use, and never have used, Restriction Rule #4. You can own as much stuff as you want; the rule is too easy to game for me to care to track how much you can carry.
The Surprise and Tracking rules gain bonuses in terrain types that each alignment has an affinity with:
L/G – forest
L/N – hills
L/E – tundra
N/G – mountains
N/E – desert
C/G – Coasts
C/N – jungle
C/E – swamp
In the area listed for each alignment, characters gain their level as a bonus on chance to surprise, and on chance to track.
Other than the above, all alignments of rangers are identical.
