Modelling for (Eco)toxicology
About Us
Our unit mostly undertakes scientific research projects in modelling and simulation, biomathematics and biostatistics. TEAM is a unit of the Environmental characterisation and impacts on human and biodiversity Department of the French national institute for industrial environment and risks (INERIS), which is the public expert for mitigating industrial and environmental risk. We focus on:
Multi-scale modelling of toxicity pathways in toxicology and ecotoxicology. We develop mechanistic or statistical modelling tools to parameterize Adverse Outcome Pathways for use in research or in regulatory contexts.
Understanding and predicting effects of chemical compounds at a population level. We develop mechanistic mathematical models to analyze data obtained from experimental ecosystems (mesocosm) studies and to extrapolate from individual organisms to whole populations. This complements our research on multi-scale modelling of toxicity pathways in ecotoxicology.
Characterization of individual exposomes with biomarkers. We work on improving methodologies for characterization of human external and internal exposures. Integrating exposure dynamics in epidemiological studies can provide better understanding of the link between exposure and health effects. We are leading experts in physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modelling.
Our key tools include: System biology modelling, QSAR modelling, PBPK modelling, DEB and DEBtox modelling, Individual-based modelling (IBM). We also have consultancy activities.
