About Henry Fowler II
Henry Fowler II
M, b. 1632, d. November 1704
Henry was born in 1632 at Hambleton, County Rutland, England.1 He was the son of Henry Fowler II. In 1653, Henry and his friend, Joshua Foote immigrated to America from London.
Henry married Rebecca Newell, daughter of Abraham Newell and Frances (?), before 4 June 1655 at the home of Joshua Foote, Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island. They were married without a license. On 4 June 1655, Henry was "warned of court to answer for his marriage without due publishment." His explanation of his in ability to obtain a license was on account of "ye division of ye towne" in regard to some of the town business, won for him a remission. He & the town were reputed by Roger Williams.2,3
It appears that he was apprenticed to Joshua Foote, an ironmonger. He settled first in Roxbury with the Footes. Records in Roxbury show that Joshua Foote resided next to the Abraham Newell family. He later moved to Providence, Rhode Island early in 1655 with the Foote family. He was in Fairfield, Connecticut in 1665. In 1666, he is found in Eastchester, Westchester County, New York where he stayed until 1672. Then, he returned to Rhode Island and later, he moved to Mamaroneck, Westchester County, New York.
He was quite active in the community buying and selling land and appears to have been well able to finance business ventures. He also took an active part in the affairs of the community. By trade he was a blacksmith or as seen in one record "iron monger".4,5,6,7,8,9
Henry made his will on 19 September 1687 at Mamaroneck, Westchester County, New York. On 19 september 1687, Henry transferred his house and home lot in Mamaroneck to his son William who was living in Flushing. He then moved to Eastchester where he remained until his death.10
Henry departed this life in November 1704 at Eastchester, Westchester County, New York, at age 72 years. His will was probated on 6 December 1704.11

Research Notes
Note: Henry's father Henry was probably a fictional creations of Dickinson. Henry's great-grandfather Sir Richard Fowler (d. 1528) owned property in Rycote, co. Oxon and Hambleden, co. Bucks, but the latter has been corrupted into Hambleton, co. Rutland by Christine Fowler in HIstory of the Fowlers, further calling into question the veracity of this pedigree.
The birth date of 1585 has been removed from the profile and the birth location Hambleton, County Rutland, England has been removed. His relationships have been marked as uncertain. Note his wife's name is the same as his former grandmother's name.
Biography
Henry was born circa 1585 at Hambleton, County Rutland, England. He was the son of Henry Fowler I and Annis Knight. He was living in Hambleton in 1632, while the name of wife Sarah not given in the source material.
