Disputed Information
Some say that Elizabeth was the daughter of John Lobdell and Hannah Leverett, who was baptized 23 Mar 1662 in Hingham, Massachusetts. However, she died a week after her mothers death in April 1662.[6][7]
Likely the daughter of Isaac Lobdell: On 27 March 1710, “well stricken in years,” Isaac Lobdell made his will which was proved 5 May 1718 (Suffolk Co. Probate File 4023). He left his dwelling house to son Joseph, and bequeathed to daughter Perry and her husband, . . .”[8]

About Nicholas Lobdell
Nicholas Lobdell migrated to New England during the Puritan Great Migration (1620-1640).
Biography
The parents of Nicholas Lobdell are unknown. Based on the work of Douglas Richardson in the "American Genealogist" and his research of parish records that established the origins of four of his children, Richardson proposes Nicholas originated in Northam, Devonshire, England."[1] Judy Jacobson highlights the work by Julia Harrison Lobdell focusing on a Kent County, England connection; however, based on subsequent events this logic results in a pre 1600s birth for Nicholas. In the end she ultimately reverts to Richardson's "about 1605" birth[1], but leaves the possible origin as Kent or Devonshire, England.[2]
He married about 1630 Jane Unknown. She was named as the mother of the unnamed daughter christened in Northam 8 March 1634/5. [3]
Nicholas immigrated to Hingham, Massachusetts in New England between 1635 and 1636 where he had grants of land.[4][3]
His wife, Jane Unknown, died in 1641.[3]. Some contend Nicholas possibly married Bridget Pierce in Hingham around 1641, but Richardson provides evidence otherwise.[5][6]
Nicholas's last public reference was 28 November 1648.[1]
Family
First four found recorded in the parish records of Northam, Devonshire, England:
Elizabeth, chr. 21 Aug 1631
Symon, chr. 23 Dec 1632
James, bur. 23 Sep 1632
Unnamed daughter (probably Ann), chr 8 Mar 1634/5
Isaac, b abt 1636 Hingham, MA
John, b abt 1638 Hingham, MA[1]
Research Notes
There is some general agreement that "dell and "den" are interchangeable.[1][2]
The name has many variations: Lobdell, lobbed, lobdell, lobdoll, lobel, and london.[2]

Lobdell Coat of Arms / Lobdell Family Crest
The surname Lobdell or Lopdell, sometimes spelled "Lobden," first appears as a medieval placename in Sussex, England, during the 1200s A.D. The name is thought to mean "Spider Dell" or "Spider Valley," from Anglo-Saxon hloppa, "lob" or spider ("lob" and "cob" are archaic English words for "spider," as in "cobwebs"). Genealogical researcher Jared Lobdell, a descendant of Simon Lobdell's son Joshua Lobdell (1671-c.1742), thinks Lobdell was a location near the Bourne River in Sussex. Commenting in a 15 Aug. 2000 post in one of Genealogy.com's defunct discussion forums, Jared Lobdell said he thought the medieval Sussex Lobdell's were "of Anglo-Norman stock (Norman because they owned land under Edward I and presumably Henry III, but Anglo- because they were not major land holders likely to have preserved pure Norman lines on both sides)." As an old Sussex family, they may have been of Norman origin, or perhaps descendants of the South Saxons who came to Britain in the 400s A.D. and gave their name to Sussex -- or perhaps even of Briton descent, stemming from the ancient tribes of the Regni or Cantiaci who inhabited Sussex and Kent in pre-Roman times. Be that as it may, the first appearance of this surname is in 1296, in the tax rolls of Ecclesdon and Preston-with-Hove in Sussex, England, in which Robert de Loppedell and Agatha (Agnes?) de Loppedell are listed. Continuing with the history of this family in the same comment, Lobdell said:
"In the next generation were Robert de Loppedell (I assume the eldest son who got the land), William de Loppedell, in orders and apparently a member of the English embassy to France in the matter of the so-called War of St.-Sardos (1322), and Thomas de Loppedell, Rector of East Hoathly in Sussex, who died in the Black Death of 1348-9. The name appears in Roger (a knight if I recall, in Middlesex) in the XIVth c., and then in the line of Stephen Lopdell of the Isle of Horsey, near Eastbourne (Sussex) in 1467, William (probably his son d. circa 1525), John, William, and Nicholas."
