About William Perry

From Deane’s History of Scituate:53

William settled east of the Church hill: his house stood in what is now [1831] Howland’s field: he had twelve children, one of whom was Amos, who lived near Cornet’s dam, where Samuel Tolman, sen. resides, and Elizabeth, his daughter, was the wife of Bezaleel Palmer, and secondly of Capt. Benjamin Tolman, and was the grandmother of the respectable family of Copeland. There are descendants in Hanover. William Perry also was owner of a half share in Conihassett, with William Holmes, in 1646.

William’s will was probated 1 Feb 1715/6.

On 31 May 1681 William married Elizabeth Lobdell, daughter of Isaac Lobdell (ca 1633-26 Apr 1718) & Martha Ward (ca 1635-4 May 1708), in Scituate, MA.110 Born ca 1659. Elizabeth died aft 13 May 1735.

Elizabeth first married William Perry, second Benjamin Pierce.

About Thomas Perry, of Scituate

Note: There seems to be a lack of documentation to confirm this was the father of William Perry, Sr. who was born in Scituate, 1657, as some genealogies list him as William Perry of England, but this is highly conflicting and also has him listed by some as the grandson of an Edmund Perry, Quaker, as most records indicate the Perry's in this line were Puritans. The dates and place of birth also do not line-up, and lead me to believe that many mixed him up with another line.

Having his wife as Sarah Stedman, born 1644, would've made her only 11 years old at the birth of their first 3 children, including William Perry. So this is very conflicting and confusing, and we'll have to end the line here...with a big '?'...which is unfortunate as now we'll never know which of our ancestors in this line actually migrated to America.
