OBITUARY: Patrick Beatty

Patrick Beatty, an old settler in Jackson county, died at his farm home in the Town of Hixton, last Saturday night, at the age of 70. The funeral was held from St. Joseph's Church in this city, Monday forenoon, Rev. P. F. Garrity, officiating. Mr. Beatty was born in Ireland, and came to this county in 1856. For a number of years he resided in this city. ABout 21 years ago he purchased a farm about two miles southeast of Hixton, and has since resided there. He was a private in Company I, 14th Wisconsin Infantry in the Civil War. His wife died a few years ago. He is survived by a daughter - Mrs. Sarah Green of this city, and three sons - William, of Waterloo, Iowa, and John and Hugh, of the town of Hixton. He was a genial, whole souled man and leaves numerous friends. His healt had been failing for several years and about two weeks ago his condidition became worse.
(Personal Note: According to Patrick's pension records he married a second time. In his pension records he states that his second wife's name was Mary O'Donnell. But on his death certificate it lists Mary O'Donnell as his mother.)
