Miss Jahala Noble and Robert Basil Ford, were united in marriage by the Rev. Winslow Wilson, of the Methodist Church, in a single ring candlelight ceremony performed at 7:30 o’clock Wednesday evening, December 28, 1949, in the Evangelical Lutheran church, Black River Falls.
The decorations in the church consisted of the beautiful big Christmas tree inside the altar rail, decorated in silver lights, the tall candelabrum with the many white candles and two tall containers, with white cyclamen flanking the wedding parts.
Their attendants were Mrs. Patricia Scofield, sister of the bride and Hollis Ford, brother of the bride-groom. The bride and bridegroom entered the church together. Gary Ford, brother of the bridegroom and Basil Holder, cousin of the bride, were ushers. The church was filled by the friends who witnessed the ceremony.
The bride wore a simple aqua dress with silver threads, blark accessories and band of white flowers and red roses in her hair. Her attendant wore a bronze satin two-piece dress with brown accessories and yellow and aqua flower headdress.
Mrs. Ford, mother of the bride-groom, wore a black dress with black accessories and a corsage of white mums and heather. Mrs. Noble, mother of the bride, wore a moss green gaberdine suit with black accessories and a corsage of red roses.
The wedding music was played on the organ by Mrs. Bert Engebretson and Miss Betty Jean Perry was accompanist for the three solos sung during the service. Donn Holder sand Greig’s “I Love Three” and Geehl’s “For You Alone” and at the end of the ceremony Richard Holder sang “The Lord’s Prayer”. Both soloists are cousins of the birde.
A reception in the church parlors following the ceremony. The Table decorations were Norway pine, white narcissus and white candles and had been arranged by Miss Carol Kinley, who also served the beautiful white wedding cake which was crowned with white flowers and sprays of green; Mrs. Glen Whittet and Miss Grace Webb poured. Mesdames Vermon Goldsmith and Don Holder, Misses Katherine Meek and Betty Ann Dalby served and a group from the Spring Creek-Pine Grove Ladies Aid was in charge of the kitchens. Mrs. D.M. Perry was in charge of he gift book and registrations. Mrs. D.W.A. Holder was a hostess.
Mr. and Mrs. Ford went to Madison where they remained until Saturday, returned to spend the weekend at home and went back to Madison Monday, where they have an apartment on 324 East Johnson St.
The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Noble, of this city. She specialized in stenography and had a position in Chicago with the Libbey Glass Company, later transferred to the St. Paul branch when it was opened. She resigned to accept a position at home with County Agent Walter Bean and resigned there to accept a position in the office of Merlin Hull, in Washington, D.C., where she spent last year. The bridegroom si a son of Mr. and Mrs. M.H. Ford, of this city. He is attending the University of Wisconsin and will receive his degree in geology at the end of this semester. He was one of a group of four young men who made a discovery of uranium near Lac La Ronge, northern Saskatchewan, last summer. He plans on working for his Master’s Degree and will remain at the University. Mr. and Mrs. Ford have many friends who wish them happiness.
