Emma R. Houghton, 96, or Caravilla, died there Wednesday, December 12, 1990.
She was born March 28, 1894, in Friburg, Ohio, the daughter of Jacob and Rose Wildmer Matti. She married Mahlon Houghton Febuary 24, 1913 in Humbird, Wisconsin; he died December 6, 1966.
She had lived many years with her husband on a farm in Houghtonburg near Humbird, Wisconsin, moving to Beloit in 1942. She lived at 819 Park Avenue until she moved to Caravilla. She was a member of the Atonement Lutheran Church and the Miriam church group. She was a member of the Sybil Rebekah Lodge NO 164 for more than 60 years She was also a member of the Past Noble Grand Club.
She is survived by one daughter, Leona Rice of Edgerton, Wisconsin; a grand-daughter, Helen Schroeder of Prairie View, Illinois; one grandson, Thomas Rice of Green Bay, Wisconsin; five great grandchildren, Nicholas, Joseph and Natalie Schroeder, Lyndsay and David Rice; a sister, Minette Miller of Cupertino, California; two brothers, William Matti of Cleveland, Ohio and Ernest Mattie of Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Giles Houghton, a brother and a sister.
Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday in the Schoenfeld Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Sullivan officiating. Buria will be in the East Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 pm at the funeral home. There will be a Sybil Rebekah service at 1 pm Friday.
