Mr and Mrs Wilfred Flood, of Humbird, were very delightfull surprised last Sunday by members of their family on the occasion of their 36th wedding anniversary. The surprise had been planned by their two daughters, Mrs Clarence Olson and Mrs William Duchow, both of them reside in Humbird, as is their only son, Angus. Mrs Flood had been ill of flu for about 3 weeks but was better and had gone to Sunday school and church that day. When she returned she found the company had gathered in her absence at the restaurant of her daughter, Mrs Duchow. It was her first knowledge of any celebration being planned.
Large tables were set in the sun parlor at the restaurant, and Mrs Duchow had a huge cake. A friend, Mrs Ed Eisberner, of Humbird, had made a beautiful wedding centerpiece for the occasion. It was beautiful day, just such a day as Wilfred Flood and Miss Bessie Thompson encountered 36 years before when they went to Winona, Minnesota, to be married.
Mr and Mrs Flood resided at Wrightsville for many years, where they operated a farm. Of late years they have been residents of Humbird where he operates a filling station and Mrs Flood has charge of tourist cabins connected with the restaurant of her daughter, Mrs Duchow. All of their children, listed above, live in Humbird and life is full of contentment for Mr and Mrs Flood living among them. They have seven grandchildren. They have many friends who join in extending congratulations to them on this occasion.
Among those who were present on Sunday were Adolph Sanders and daughter, Miss Zona, Mr and Mrs Steve Zeman and sons, Winston and Marvin, of Melrose; Mr and Mrs Harry Thompson and Mrs Albert Stenulson and son Louis of Irving; Mr and Mrs Elmer Davis and daughters, Darlene and Margaret, Mr and Mrs Lawrence Janke and daughter Beverly, Mr and Mrs Harry Schoolcraft and Mrs Ole Peterson and son Duane, of this city; Mr and Mrs Clarence Olson and sons, Dale, Don and Duane, and Mr and Mrs Angus Flood and family of Humbird. There were 35 in all. Mr and Mrs George Thompson and family of Ettrick, were unable to attend, and Mr and Mrs Oscar Sprague of Milwaukee, sent a telegram of congratulation as they were unable to be present.
