Harvey A. Schoolcraft, age 94, of Black River Falls, died Thursday, April 28, 2011, in Family Heritage Care Center, Black River Falls, under the care of Black River Memorial Hospice.
Harvey Allen Schoolcraft was born on Feb. 4, 1917, in the Wrightsville area of Jackson County to Harry and Nellie (Thompson) Schoolcraft. He was a lifelong resident of the Black River Falls area.
He was a self-employed milk hauler for over 50 years. He first hauled milk via cans to American Stores Condensory in Neillsville until the mid-1960s. He then switched to bulk milk hauling and hauled to Ludeman’s South Alma Cheese Factory. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed hard work.
Harvey married Olga Marek in 1943 in Black River Falls. The couple lived in the town of Brockway all of their married lives. Olga Schoolcraft died on June 22, 2007. He had been a resident of Parkside Residence in Black River Falls for the past several years.
He enjoyed his annual fishing trips to Canada with friends and family. He also enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening and cutting firewood. He truly valued his friends and friendships.
Survivors include his two sons, Harry Schoolcraft and Ken (LuAnne) Schoolcraft, both of Black River Falls; a son-in-law, Jim Zillmer; nine grandchildren, Shannon (Scott) Shaieb, Shane (fiance, Brittany) Zillmer, Shailler Zillmer, Amy Schoolcraft, Jon (Michelle) Schoolcraft, Ann Schoolcraft, Sarah Schoolcraft, Amber (Josh) Converse and Tyler (special friend, April) Schoolcraft; five great-grandchildren, Anthony Shaieb, Madelyn Converse, Charlie Converse, Etta Converse and Matthew Schoolcraft; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife, Olga, Harvey was preceded in death by his daughter, Tobi Zillmer; a daughter-in-law, LaVon Schoolcraft; brothers James and Murray Schoolcraft; and sisters Helen Peterson, Verna Janke, Blanche Olson, Leah Stenulson and Phyllis Davis.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2011, at the Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls. The Rev. Lon Jury officiated and burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls.
Family and friends were invited for visitation from 3-5 p.m. on Sunday and from 10 a.m. until the time of services on Monday, both at the Buswell Funeral Home.
