I really enjoyed the lessons today because the topic was one of my favourites: nutrition and diary products! Each one of our nutrition habits has an impact on our body and on our health, even on our psychology. This is why pupils should learn about how they can eat smart, providing to their body what is important for it and what it needs. And remember that if you eat smart when you are young, you'll carry on! With pupils from grade 7 my mentor and I combine the new grammar chapter about modal verbs with a creative activity for which we used material from the European Commission’s website “The tasty bunch”. First, pupils read the food stories and took notes about vegetables, fruit, milk and diary products and healthy lifestyle. After, each pupil wrote ten sentences using must, mustn’t, should, shouldn’t, have to and don’t have to. For example: We must eat vegetables because they are very good for our body and they contain a lot of nutrients, including vitamins, minerals and fibres. At the end of the lesson pupils created a list with all of these sentences which they named it “Advices for a balanced healthy nutrition”. With pupils from grade 4 we helped Milky to spread his message by describing where does the milk, the butter, the yogurt, the cheese, the cream and the ice cream come from. In order to succeed in our goal, I introduced to my mentor the extremely useful EUBookshop’s publication “Where does milk come from?” from which I prepared a PowerPoint presentation. My mentor talked about milk, butter and cream and I talked about yogurt, cheese and ice cream. Also, my mentor prepared some questions for the pupils about these diary products, which pupils were eager to answer! How could I describe this day with only one adjective? A meaningful day!
