Here, in Ziar nad Hronom, it was raining and now it is partially cloudy. As you have already understood our today’s topic was the weather (how we can describe the weather, vocabulary, questions, expressions). Pupils learnt some words and phrases for describing the weather through a “filling the gap” exercise that I design using a short text about weather in Greece. Then, pupils visited the website of the Greek National Meteorological Service and they described how the weather would be for the next days as presenting a weather forecast. You definitely have to try this activity with your pupils! And for another lesson, I prepared a PowerPoint presentation and searched on YouTube for some videos in order to describe a very close related with weather topic: spring! Pupils found many things that mark the spring. The new words for them in my presentation were: nest, lamb, raindrops, kite and some kinds of flowers (primroses, tulips, primula, violet, pansy, lily of the valley, crocus, camellia and daffodil). At the end, pupils test their knowledge on spring vocabulary by doing a crossword and they tried to solve a cryptogram about spring.
