After the success of the activities for celebrating Europe Day 2011 and the interest of both pupils and teachers for the European Union and its policies, my mentor and I thought that it would be worth to prepare an information seminar in order to spread and promote the necessary information about tools, programmes, opportunities and initiatives that European Union offers to teachers and pupils. And today this idea came true! Under seminar’s title “Europe: equipping a teacher’s mind” teachers from Ziar nad Hronom discovered many EU tools that they can use in order to improve their teaching skills and raise their pupils’ awareness about European Union and its policies. This seminar, which lasted two hours (13:00-15:00), inaugurated by the Coordinator of Comenius School Partnerships and Comenius Assistantships – SAAIC (Slovak National Agency), Ms. Zuzana Dovčiková. She presented these two actions of the Comenius programme and answered to teachers’ questions. After my mentor shared her experience about the Comenius School Partnerships project “Quality now and tomorrow” and she gave accurate information about each stage of its implementation. Then, I presented tools, initiatives, programmes and opportunities that EU Institutions and Bodies offer to teachers, pupils and young people. You can have access to all of these tools and find out more about the seminar “Europe: equipping a teacher’s mind” by visiting the special weblog which I created in order to give you the chance to “attend” this seminar virtually ;)
