I would say that today it was a challenge-full day for me because I assisted the History teacher and in her lesson I had to describe in plain English three very important topics concerning Greek Culture: a. characteristics of Doric, Ionian and Corinthian rhythm, b. parts of an Ancient theatre, c. stadium in Antiquity and related games. Because I believe that there is no better way to catch pupils’ attention than a video full of colours, sounds, breathtaking frames, tourist’s opinions, I started with the video “Culture in Greece”, which you can find here. After, in my PowerPoint presentation I used lots of pictures and I tried to make as interesting as possible this lesson with some games. For example, after the description of the characteristics of the three rhythms, I asked pupils to recognise which rhythm they saw at some pictures from ancient temples and ruins from places of worship. The pupils had no problem at all to recognize the rhythm on each picture and they seemed to have a great time during this presentation! I think that they had no problem to understand the English that I used for this presentation. The last part of this presentation was a short discussion about the Olympic Games and about the Olympic Games that held in Athens on 2004. And of course, as every Monday, I had a Greek lesson in a full-equipped classroom! Today the lesson included: - learning the colours in Greek and remembering the colours in English - interactive games with two levels (easy-difficult) about colours
- repetition of basic words and numbers from 0 to 20
