The day started at 6:00 because I had to catch the bus to Lovčica-Trubín village, which is very close to Ziar nad Hronom. I was more than happy to accept an invitation for assisting my mentor on the English lesson at the Primary School of Charles Bielik, in which there are about 38 pupils between 6 and 10 years old. Yesterday, we discussed about this visit and lesson’s topics that I had to present to the pupils and everything went very smoothly. After a short presentation about my country and the “taste time” as I named the taste of the Greek products (raisins, sesame with honey, ouzo caramels) that I took with me for the pupils, me and my mentor taught through interactive games some words of things that there are in a bedroom, such as shelf, desk, chair, photo frames, books, pencils, posters, lamps. Also, children learned about the family (members, characteristics, relations, age, appearance) and they tried to describe my pet, Victor using some photos that I inserted in the PowerPoint presentation (name, age, colors, size, breed). For once again pupils surprised me with their imagination, their ability of expressing themselves in English and their willing for learning foreign languages. After this visit, I returned to the School in Ziar and Hronom and I assisted teachers to their lessons about recycling, free time, personal characteristics, clothes and clothing accessories. Last but not least, I attended at 16:00 the parent’s meeting about the final part of the first Comenius project entitled “Quality now and tomorrow” of Základná škola Dr. Janského. Partner schools are Primary Schools from United Kingdom, Greece, Spain, Finland and Czech Republic. The final part – meeting of this project will be held in Oulu, Finland from 16 to 20 of March. The project started two years before and all partner Schools have taken pains to fulfill the most criteria for sustainable schools. In Oulu, teachers and pupils are going to talk about benefit concert for Birtukan and about activities on how to save energy at school. From Základná škola Dr. Janského, 10 pupils and 5 teachers are going to Oulu. So, this second parent’s meeting organized in order to provide parents with the current information about travelling, transport and communication with their children. You can see some photos of pupil’s final rehearsal about a short and interesting presentation of Permonik, a Slovakian tale that they are going to present in Oulu.
