Biomimetic Assessment Framework ISO/TC 266

Abstract

A key requirement for building credibility in biomimetic innovation is established a set of generally accepted standards for assessing success. ISO/TC 266 on "Biomimetics" proposed three criteria relating to whether an innovation is biomimetic. The Canadian ISO/TC 266 mirror committee in conjunction with international experts is developing a Biomimetic Assessment Framework that expands on the three criteria and adds criteria relating to the problem statement and outcomes. This presentation will review the current state of the framework, potential applications, and next steps.
