Abstract:

Biomimicry and bio-inspired design use a variety of approaches to map natural systems onto design. How do these integrate with SE? Is it at the level of form, process or system? What are these tools and who uses them? Where, why and how does a SE use these tools?

Bio:

Curt McNamara, P.E. is an educator and practicing designer with 30 years experience in hardware, projects, and systems. He is a graduate of the Portland State Master of Engineering in Systems Engineering. Curt received the IEEE Millennium Medal in 2000 for his ongoing work in education, is a Biomimicry Education Fellow, wrote the Systems Chapters in "Sustainable Graphic Design" (Wiley) and "Packaging Sustainability" (Wiley), and the chapter on complex adaptive systems in teamwork for Teamwork and Project Management (McGraw-Hill).
