Studor - SEBok

Abstract: This discussion begins with a short overview of SEBoK and the schedule of opportunities to contribute to it. We proceed to consider and respond to the SEBoK challenge to all INCOSE working groups issued at the IW2014 to:

  • expand content in our area--Since Natural Systems are currently not covered, we will develop an initial set of materials.

  • build on other existing work in SEBoK. We will begin to introduce relationships and interfaces between existing SEBok areas and Natural Systems concepts and data

  • identify areas in your working group which should be matured so that they can be added to SEBoK. We will incrementally identify Natural Systems areas that are maturing rapidly, and that are thus potentially useful in the near term. We will also identify other areas where mid-term maturation is desirable and probable.

Bio: Mr. George Studor is the co-chair and founder of the INCOSE Natural Systems Working Group: an initiative which grew out of his NASA efforts to encourage the inclusion of natural systems, living and non-living, in the system engineering process for NASA human spaceflight. He has worked in systems engineering for NASA, flown many sensor systems in space for operational uses, managed SBIR and other technology development for Structures and Avionics. He retired from USAF in 1999 and NASA in 2013. Now, George is a consultant participating in 3 NASA technical discipline teams in the areas of in-space inspection, wireless avionics/sensors and applications of Natural Systems in Systems Engineering.
