Thornton, John B.

John Thornton is a clinical assistant professor of law at Northwestern University School of Law, where he teaches Common Law Reasoning to international LLM students. As a practicing attorney, he specialized in complex commercial litigation and employment law as an associate at Jenner & Block LLP, Vedder, Price, Kaufman & Kammholz, PC, and, most recently, at Scandaglia & Ryan. Before becoming an attorney, Thornton spent sixteen years teaching English as a Second Language and academic reading, writing, and critical thinking skills in the intensive program at the University of Illinois at Chicago and elsewhere. He received a BA from Notre Dame, a Masters in Applied Linguistics from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a JD from Northwestern Law.
