Saltzman, Shelley A.

Dr. Shelley A. Saltzman is a Senior Lecturer at Columbia University in New York City. The English for Legal Professionals program that she designed in 1988 was one of the first in the United States. Her paper detailing that experience was published in Issues and Innovations in ESL Teaching and Learning. Since then, she has designed various ELP programs for Columbia University and currently teaches in their English for Law summer program, which attracts LLM candidates as well as non-matriculating foreign lawyers. Dr. Saltzman has given workshops and presented papers on designing ELP materials and courses at a variety of conferences, including the first Global Legal Skills Conference hosted by the John Marshall Law School in 2005.
