Global Legal Skills

I have been working on legal education projects outside the US for the past five years in 10 countries (Asia and Europe). The projects involve establishment of courses in legal analysis and writing, lawyer ethics, and a general change in teaching methods. Through a variety of NGOs, there is an effort to export US-style legal education. In some respects this may be a positive force, but it is too often done with little or no care or understanding of local legal or educational culture. When this happens, such exportation is harmful in many ways. My presentation would explore these issues.
