Japan´s Legal System Reforms and the (Inter) natiionalization of Legal Education

Following on the legal reforms in Japan and changes to its legal education system, our panel will examine the outcomes of some of the reforms and discuss future prospects. Words such as "radical" and "unprecedented" have been used to describe these new developments in areas such as: the bar passage rate, teaching methods and curriculum innovation, expansion of exchange student programs, and the new lay judge system, Thus far the changes have not lived up to the expectations of citizens, reformers, and particularly law students.
