Price gouging laws

My position: Like many statist approaches, price gouging laws violate the basic principle of freedom, and in addition, hurt the very people they are intended to help. I prefer freedom.

Main points:

  • Allowing merchants to set their own prices, even high ones will help insure availability of goods where they are most needed.
  • Alternatively, any attempt to control prices creates shortages.
