Government and the Golden Rule

Status: incomplete draft

So much of the Gospel of Jesus Christ can be summarized with the Golden Rule that goes something like this: treat others as you'd want to be treated. This post is an exploration of how this principle of the Gospel can be applied to government.

Coercion -- Generally speaking people prefer to make their own choices instead of being forced to do something by others. That suggests that we shouldn't give government the power to force people to do anything except as necessary to protect inalienable rights.

Some may say that the inalienable right to life should allow government to force people to contribute to someone else's shelter or food supply.
