Art/ Digital Media CTE Teacher, Greenfield High School, SMCJUHSD, Greenfield, CA, 2018-present
Created CTE Arts, Media, and Entertainment pathway at SMCJUHSD by creating Graphic Design 1, 2, and 3 along with Digital Photography 1, 2, and 3 as well as the culminating Digital Arts Capstone (D.A.C.) course. Hand wrote and developed the curriculum (see sites.google.com/site/artwithturek/)
Managed $68,000 budget of CTE federal funds and grants to fully equip digital media program. Students learn digital painting on drawing tablets and can utilize professional flashes, lenses, and cameras using the Canon DSLR system. Fulfilled duties of CTE program, including write curriculum aligned to CTE standards, advisory committee, and participation in CTSO.
Increased enrollment and interest in arts courses, Digital Photography 1 increased from two sections to seven sections. Worked with two co-teachers on utilizing a CTE approved Photo 1 curriculum.
D.A.C. students for the Adobe Certified Professional exam in Illustrator/Photoshop, and prepared students 2D Art and Design AP portfolio. Students successfully complete and pass both exams and the pathway as it is just now seeing completers finish 3 years of the program.
Students participate in SkillsUSA club, Scholastic Art & Writing competitions, and numerous other local and state affiliated art shows. Numerous students have won state and national awards.
Took over the yearbook, bring it from $15,000 in debt to financial solvency by switching to TreeRing yearbook company. Students took all the portrait, sports, and club photos to put up for sale on Proofpix.com. Last year alone 140,000 photos were taken for a record $500 in photo sales.
