Yayyy, we won one gold key and two silvers at the 2015 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. Tamea Clark, a junior, won a gold key for her drawing, "study of hair"; Westley Hattula, a sophomore, won a silver key for his drawing "Snow Beauty"; and Sophia McIlvanie, a sophomore, won a silver key for drawing "Hagia". The winners are shown below. Congratulations to all of the winners, and if you entered but did not win, realize we have a massive pool of competition, take a look at the list of winners here. (Make sure you set the region to "Midwest region-at-large", category: Drawing and Illustration, and the Gold or Silver key to see the full list for that category) The list is massive, most schools only won a few awards each, it is very competitive and the bar for quality is very high. Selection is done by professional artists and curators currently working in their respective fields and can be pretty random from year to year. I think it's great that we won, if you see any of winners congratulate them, this is no small accomplishment!
