Leopard - Education, another double Selectivity exam. Be careful because in QUESTION 7 (USE OF ENGLISH) of OPTION B instead of FIND, they should have said GIVE. So you have to GIVE one synonym for "consistently". Remember to do it controlling the time and without any help at all. Once you have finished, you can look up whatever you like.

Here some grammatical issues to revise:
USED TO AND WOULD to express past habits >>> Good listening exercise to do!!!
Ejercicios: Used to, be used to, get used to (Gap filling exercise)
Expect, Hope, Look Forward & Wait (explanation + exercises & quiz)
You tend to commit a lot of mistakes in the use of the articles A/AN and THE, so let's revise some aspects:
Remember you use no article at all >>>>
when you are talking in general. Example: Petrol is so cheap nowadays. Exams always make me nervous.
with places when you are engaged in the activities involved in those places. For instance: You are in hospital (if you are a patient, a doctor or a nurse, but if you visit a patient >>> you go to the hospital); you go to school (if you are a student or a teacher, but if you are a student's parent >>> one day you go to the school); you are in bed or go to bed if it is your own bed meaning 'estar acostado', 'acostarse' (but if you say the definite article you are making reference to a specific or special bed >>> I slept in the bed where there was no pillow, in the bed where William Shakespeare was born)
before names of languages, meal names, the names of cities, most countries and most streets, the names of airports, stations, single mountains or lakes. Examples: We speak English, I live in London, I live in Holland (but we say: I live in the Netherlands), We had tea for breakfast, We took a coach from Gatwick airport to Milton road in Cambridge.
You use the indefinite article >>>>>
with singular nouns. Example: My uncle is writing a letter.
When you make reference to a person or a thing for the first time. Example: I met a girl the other day.
You can use the indefinite article to express prices, frequency or speeds. Examples: £3 pounds a kilo, twice a day, 40 km an hour
You use the indefinite article with: hundred, thousand, million
You use the indefinite article when you talk about jobs (be careful because in Spanish it is different). Example: I'm a teacher and you are a student.
You use the definite article >>>>>>
when you mention again a person or a thing. Example: I met a girl the other day. The girl was playing with her little brother when....
when there is only one of something, such as the Sun, the Earth... or even the TV, the kitchen
with musical instruments. Example: My elder son plays the viola and my younger son plays the guitar.
when this noun has no further importance in the message you use the indefinite article (my uncle was writing a letter), but if this noun is really important, then we will use the definite article. Example: I lost the letter my uncle wrote me when I was living in Edinburgh.
Two useful expressions to keep in mind:
frown (froun)
v. frowned, frown·ing, frowns
v.intr.
1. To wrinkle the brow, as in thought or displeasure.
2. To regard something with disapproval or distaste: frowned on the use of so much salt in the food.
v.tr.
To express (disapproval, for example) by wrinkling the brow.
n.
A wrinkling of the brow in thought or displeasure; a scowl.
1. Lit. at the time when work or one's waking hours end. (See also by the end of the day.) I will have an answer at the end of the day. Will this be finished at the end of the day or before?
2. Fig. when everything else has been taken into consideration. At the end of the day you will have to decide where you want to live. The committee interviewed many applicants for the post, but at the end of the day made no appointment.
LISA GOT IT RIGHT!!! I have just checked the adjective "must-have" in the Merriam-Webster and look what I have found out by clicking here: must-have must-have
Do you want to revise the TENSES? Click HERE.
- New attachment on TENSES. These are exercises from old exams, some of the sentences may be repeated and you have to bear in mind the time when they were implemented to know the appropriate tense you have to use. For example: "The classes will have finished in two weeks' time". This is like so because the exam was in May. So be careful!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2º BACHILLERATO STUDENTS FOR THEIR RESULTS IN THE SELECTIVITY EXAM (ESPECIALLY IN ENGLISH)
Analysing the results obtained by my students in the Selectivity exams, there are some relevant facts to outline:
1. Mediterranean Secondary School students had an average mark of 7.35 and they have had an average mark of 6.65 in Selectivity (Fase General), so the difference is as little as just 0.7.
2. 46 students could do the Selectivity exams in Motril, so our school is probably the school which sent the most students.
3. More specifically in English my students had an average mark of 6,4 and the average mark they have got in Selectivity has been 7.2, that is to say, we have a difference of 0.8. So it is even better than last year, which was 7, apart from those who passed the B1 at the Language School exam.
***********************************
Once again it is time to cheer up because three of our students in 2º Bachillerato (Irene, Lisa, Miguel Noguera & Trujillo) have passed the Language School Exams >>>> GOOD EXAMPLE TO FOLLOW IN THE COMING YEARS
*************************************
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2º BACHILLERATO STUDENTS FOR THEIR RESULTS IN THE SELECTIVITY EXAM (ESPECIALLY IN ENGLISH)
I was just analysing the results obtained by my students in the Selectivity exams and look at some interesting facts:
Mediterranean Secondary School students had an average mark of 7.47 and they have had an average mark of 6.94 in Selectivity (Fase General), so the difference is as little as just 0.53.
29 students could do the Selectivity exams in Motril (actually, the number should have been higher), but other much bigger schools such as Fco. Javier de Burgos in Motril only sent 26 students.
More specifically in English my students had an average mark of 6.4 (“thanks” to a few of the laziest students I have ever had) and the average mark they have got in Selectivity has been 7.0, that is to say, we have a difference of 0.6.
This 7 is a really wonderful mark because when I was correcting in Granada the average mark alter the first 100 of all the correctors was below 5.5. Therefore, my students have been far above that level, which is really wonderful news for all of us!!!
******************************************
Statistics are statistics, and you have to be careful with the analysis you make, but something is for sure the more data you deal with, the more accurate you are in your conclusions due to the triangulation of these data.
SO, CONGRATULATIONS ONCE AGAIN AND BE CAREFUL TONIGHT AND DO NOT GET BURNT IN THE BONFIRES!!!
