The Shape of Evil

PROLOGUE

The car rolls in. Darkness outside. Inside of the vehicle is Judith and Michael Myers. Michael just got back home from trick-or-treating on Halloween this very night in 1963.

“Now you go right to bed, Michael,” said Judith.

Michael looked at her with a blank expression.

“You heard me, right?” Judith questioned, bringing slight tension.

Michael nodded his head. They both walked through the front door, Judith first. Judith walked up the stairs and to her bedroom. She sat down on her cold bed and started to straighten her hair. Michael, however, had sinister intentions. He strayed over to the kitchen in his clown costume. Michael grabbed a kitchen knife from the drawer. Near the stairs is Michael’s clown mask. Michael slowly walked up the stairs traveling towards Judith. He opened Judith’s bedroom door and slash, slash, slash. Blood shed on his knife. Michael ran out through the front door trying to escape the scene. However, he was met by his parents. This evil would not end; every Halloween night Michael Myers would return and create fear upon Haddonfield, Illinois...

50 YEARS LATER

“He’s here. Everyone get inside!” Laurie yelled out to the kids trick-or-treating.

Today, on October 31st, 2013, was the night he came home. The night where blood would be casted on his knife.

“Hey, nice costume!” said a kid to Michael.

Michael stared blankly at them with his dirty mask and overalls. Michael then turned right to lay eyes on his target, Laurie Strode. Laurie was Michael’s care taker in which he had a sudden urge to kill.

“Lock the doors, I’m gonna go and get the shotgun.” stated Laurie, trembling with fear.

“Mom who’s here? Why are you locking the doors?” inquired her daughter.

“Michael. He’s the one who’s here. He’s comin’ for me. Michael is not the type of person to anger. If you do, he will kill you.”

Now there is silence. Until the door is moving forcefully. A fist comes through the planks on the door and it is Michael.

30 YEARS EARLIER

October 30th, 1983

Haddonfield, Illinois was a place full of joy and fun when it came to Halloween. Until a force of evil shaped into a human was unleashed. Laurie Strode was in school reviewing her notes.

“Good morning class, today we will be looking over the history of America,” the teacher said.

Laurie is currently 18 years old. She has two best friends, Annie and Linda. They both are in different classes which is unfortunate for Laurie. Laurie looks over to the window to find Michael staring back at her. She looks down at her papers fallen on the ground and then back to the window to find Michael not there. Laurie looks dumbfounded and slightly afraid.

“Laurie, what was founded on April 24th, 1800?” the teacher inquired.

“Um, the United States Library of Congress, ma’am,” Laurie said a quite bit distracted.

“Very good Laurie. Well that seems like the bell. Have a great day everybody!”

The bell rang and out went Laurie where she met up with Annie first.

“Hey, want one?” Annie said digging in her purse.

“Sure,” Laurie said as she grabbed the cigarette.

“So, where’s Linda?” her friend noted.

“I don’t know, she told me she’ll be here,”Laurie said as she looked around campus.

“Where the hell could she be?” Annie seemed quite annoyed.

“Boo! Gotcha!” Linda yelled.

“Very funny Linda,” both girls looked at her with a bit of shock.

“Y'all ready for Halloween tomorrow?” Linda was always in the spirit of the holiday.

“Yeah,” both girls said in unison.

“Can I say somethin’ real quick?” Laurie was unsure how her friends would react.

“What is it Laurie?” Annie had concern over her friend’s tone of voice.

“I saw this guy staring at me when I looked out the window,” Laurie was certain she sounded odd.

“Probably just some creep trying to get a few scares in before Halloween,” was the simple reply Laurie received from her friend.

“Maybe,” Laurie said with a feeling of worry.

“Don’t be scared Laurie, cause you got us to help.”

Linda stated trying to make the situation a little calmer, “Alright. Yeah, maybe I shouldn’t be afraid.”

“That’s the spirit, Laurie!” Annie said with glee and joyousness.

The three of them carried on walking down the street to Laurie's house. They started chatting about what they were all going to do tomorrow. Laurie sighted Michael once again, while Annie and Linda were oblivious. “Wait a second, I think I saw something.”

“I’m gonna go check it out,” Annie told the group.

“Be careful,” both girls stated.

Annie walked slowly towards the bushes to see if something or someone was there. She turned to her left and saw nothing. No one was there.

“Hey Laurie, I have someone for you!” Annie shouted.

Laurie strided slowly with her heart beating faster with each step that she took. Laurie approached Annie and the bush.

“Annie. You nearly gave me a heart attack!” Laurie said angrily.

“I was just jokin’ around with you. I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine, let's just go to my house. Oh wait, I gotta take care of little Tommy,” Linda said.

“Well shucks, Laurie,” one of the girls said.

“Maybe we can meet tomorrow?” Laurie felt fear in the idea of being alone.

“Sure,” both girls chimed in.

Michael stood behind a tree glancing carefully at the group waiting patiently for the chaos that will emerge tomorrow on Halloween. Laurie strolled on to her house and then to Tommy’s school. The bell rang and out went the students.

“Goodbye! Have a nice day and a spooky Halloween tomorrow! Stay safe!” shouted Mrs. Burch.

“You too Mrs. Burch!” Tommy told back.

“Hey Tommy! How was school today?”

“It was okay.”

“Well if you’re okay then I’m okay. Oh, I’ll be right back,”

“Where you goin’?”

“Somewhere just stay put here.”

“Alright.”

Tommy was slightly confused about the whereabouts of Laurie but he obediently listened. However he felt bored of standing still so he proceeded to the playground.

“Oh looky here,”

Tommy blankly stared at him having fear inside. He thought, Laurie please come back, please!

“So you’re not gonna say nothin’ hugh?”

Tommy then sprinted clockwise around the corner and Michael was standing tall in the doorway that lead outdoors. The bullies then chased after Tommy. However, Michael turned counterclockwise around the corner only for the bullies to run into him.

“S-sorry mister.” One of them said with freight beneath them. This feeling is something that Michael Myers brings upon the people who dare come across him. Michael turned left to see Laurie walking towards the school from above a hill and to his right to see Tommy sprinting away into the woods. Michael then stepped back into the doorway.

“Tommy? Tommy! Where are ya?” Laurie said with concern.

“Tommy I ain’t got time to play these games with you!”

Laurie looked down the small alley that Tommy ran down and saw footsteps on the mud that was on the ground.

“Tommy.” Laurie murmured under her breath. She then began running into the woods to look for Tommy. Michael exited from the doorway and stared right at Laurie sprinting. He breathed heavily.

“Tommy! What are you doin’ in the woods?”

“Laurie.” Tommy told to himself.

“Laurie I’m over here!”

“Tommy! Oh thank god.” Laurie said with relief.

“There you are Tommy, I’ve been looking for you.”

“I’m sorry for running away, it's just some bullies were chasin’ me.”

“Well don’t let them take you down okay?”

“Alright.”

The tension smoothened and both of them started to stand. Michael is stepping towards Laurie.

“Um, Laurie.”

“What Tommy?”

“There’s someone behind you and he’s about to stab you with a knife!”

“Where? Ah!” Laurie instantaneously grasped onto Tommy and dodged Michael’s swing. Michael then stood up straight and turned slowly towards Laurie and Tommy.

“Run Tommy! Run! To the house, go!” Laurie declamated.

Michael started to pace towards the two, knife in hand. Laurie grabbed some rocks and chucked them at Michael which stunned him and made him fall down. Laurie ran to her house to meet up with Tommy. Michael rose up and glared right towards Laurie and stood still.

“Lock the doors and close the blinds Tommy!” Laurie shouted.

“Laurie, I’m scared.”

“It’s gonna be alright Tommy, It’s gonna be okay. I’m going to call the police and they’re going to fix this.”

Laurie walked over to the front door to lock it and Michael burst through the door and stabbed her in the stomach. He then pinned her to the wall with his knife.

HALLOWEEN

October 31st, 1983

Laurie awoke from bed taking quick deep breaths.

“What happened?” Laurie said looking at her hands and fingers.

“Laurie! Laurie! Guess what today is?” Tom inquired.

“What is it?”

“It’s Halloween, Laurie!” Tommy said, chuckling.

“It is? Well, happy Halloween!” Laurie stated, smiling.

Laurie had a sense of relief when she laid sight on Tommy. However, they won’t be relieved for very long.

“Oh, that must be Annie. Hello?”

“Hi Laurie!”

“Hey.”

“So are we gonna have movie night tonight?” Annie asked.

“Yeah, let me call Linda. What time?”

“I don’t know, nine or ten o’clock.”

“That sounds good to me,” Laurie responded.

“See ya later, Laurie!”

“Alright, see you later, bye.”

“Hey Linda.”

“What’s up Laurie?”

“You comin’ over to have movie night?”

“Well, of course I’m going to go. I’ll bring snacks.”

“Okay, I’ll have drinks,” Laurie replied.

“Great, see you there, bye!”

“Bye Linda,” Laurie ended.

“Laurie, are you and your friends going to have a party here?” asked Tommy.

“Yes, but it’s not going to be for kids.”

“Why not, Laurie? Oh please let me stay,” Tommy pleaded.

“Fine, but you better act good.”

“I promise, Laurie.”

Tonight would be not only a party, but the beginning of the terrors that Haddonfield would receive. Michael Myers would return again after this night.

ONE DAY EARLIER

October 30th, 1983

“I knew Michael, I was his therapist,” spoke Dr. Lummus to Officer Douglas.

“He had these blank eyes and an expressionless face. The devil’s eyes. And I know for a fact that he’s going to return to Haddonfield tomorrow.”

“How do you know for sure that this person will come back?” said Douglas skeptically. He is currently a novice police officer who is seeking out to look for an aversive situation he can seize.

“When he got put into the Haddonfield Sanctuary after the murder of his own sister, Judith, he wrote down, ‘Halloween’ in dark ink. Halloween is Michael’s favorite day of the year from what he told me. Kid is always tryin’ to cause trouble and mayhem on that day. Some years we could stop him but not this year. This year, he escaped. Haddonfield is in for a blood bath unless we stop him right then and there. Do you believe me now, Officer Douglas?” Dr. Lummus asked. Douglas nodded his head slowly. Both Lummus and Douglas built a sense of confidence and they will have to wait and see if they can truly prevent Michael from beginning his near murders.

9:00 p.m.

October 31st, 1983

“Hey Laurie!” chimed Annie and Linda.

“Hey guys!” responded Laurie.

“What are you dressed up as, Annie?”

“Darth Vader. Couldn’t you tell?”

“Well, I’m not a Star Wars fan, Annie.” contested Laurie.

“What are you supposed to be Laurie? A dumb doll?” the girls snickered.

“I’m not just any doll, I’m Coraline.”

“What or who the heck is Coraline?”

“She’s a haunted doll, that’s who.” Laurie stated in annoyance.

“Girls! Stop arguing and try to enjoy the party,” Linda commanded, ending the argument.

“Right. We should just stop fighting and start partying!” Annie stated, making the

situation calmer.

“Shoot. I forgot to get the snacks. I’m going to go home to get them really quick.”

“Okay, but make it back ASAP!”

Going back home would be the biggest mistake of Annie’s life.

“I cannot believe I forgot to get the food. I even told myself to remember to bring them,” Annie spoke to herself while walking down the sidewalk. As Annie was strolling, she adjusted her costume.

“Oh, sorry” Annie uttered as she bumped into a mysterious figure. She tried to go around them, but they just strided in her direction.

“Okay now you’re just being a jerk. Hey, if you don’t get outta my way, I’ll call the-” Annie couldn’t finish her sentence because she was suddenly punctured by a knife. The figure wielding the knife was none other than Michael Myers. No words were released from Annie’s mouth apart from some splattered blood.

“What’s taking Annie so long to get the snacks?” the friends asked.

“I don’t know, but she should be here soon,” Laurie reassured.

“I’m going to go use the bathroom upstairs really quick.”

“Okay, I’ll prepare some drinks,” said Laurie as she exited the room.

Laurie mistakenly left the front door unlocked free for Michael to roam, so she didn’t notice his entrance. Michael glanced upwards and heard Linda using the bathroom. Michael grabbed a tablecloth from a closet near the stairs and poked two holes for him to see out of.

“Very funny, Laurie. You can’t fool me,” Linda mentioned, feeling clever. Michael removed the cloth and revealed himself.

“What the-?” Linda too could not have ended her sentence. Michael then placed her body inside of the bedroom closet. Also, he placed Annie’s corpse on a bed with Judith’s grave next to it.

“Linda, are you alright up there?” Laurie proclaimed.

Laurie decided to go upstairs to check up on her. When she reached the final step, Laurie peered into her bedroom with shock and freight, covering her mouth with her hand.

“Oh my god. What happened?”

Laurie opened the closet and shrieked in horror upon sighting Linda. Little did she know, Michael was standing directly behind her preparing for his third victim. However, she turned behind her to see him stab her on the shoulder. Laurie screamed in pain and fell onto the carpet. She retaliated and forcefuly kicked Michael back. Laurie ran into the other bedroom closet to hide. Michael stood back up and walked towards the bedroom to seek Laurie. He looked around the room and laid eyes on the closet. Michael shook and punched through the closet.

“Take that, creep!” Laurie said along with jabbing Michael in the eye with a broken clothes hanger that had an extremely sharp end. Laurie stood over Michael thinking that she had finally defeated him. Yet, Michael reanimated himself to reach over to grab his knife. Michael was about to swing and destroy Laurie when Dr. Lummus came to the rescue and shot the shape multiple times sending him out of the window. The evil lingered outside.

“Are you alright?” Dr. Lummus inquired.

“No, I’m not alright. Well, at least he’s put down,” Laurie said with great relief. Both of them escaped from the Strode house to surprisingly sight Michael not there anymore.

“Where did he go?” Laurie asked in a bamboozled state.

“I have no idea,” was the only way Dr. Lummus could respond.

Michael disappeared but would eventually be put back into the Haddonfield Sanctuary. His escape would once again bring even more devastating and gruesome fatalities 50 years later in Haddonfield, Illinois, on October 31st, 2013...
