Happiness Happenings

Not Just Wrapped in Kindness, but Wrapped in Mini Miracles

By: Mrs. Engel

Have you seen the 1,000 + orange arrows that are wrapped around the hallways of Keller Junior High?

Inspired by WestJet's 12,000 Mini-Miracles Campaign, Keller too has taken on the mission of not only wrapping Keller in kindness, but also wrapping itself in mini miracles that can be performed by students, staff, family and community members alike.

The purpose is to spread positivity, not only around Keller Junior High, but also to have those mini miracles bust out of the school doors and begin to flood the community with uplifting acts.

Research has proven that doing something nice for others increases one's own self esteem and overall feelings of positivity. This in turn boosts the immune system and increases our ability to learn and function more efficiently throughout the day, which not only leads to happier more productive students and staff members, but also a happier more productive community as well.

So What is a Mini Miracle?

A mini miracle is any purposefully planned act of kindness that one person does for another without the expectation of being compensated in any way. Simply, it is doing something nice for someone else.

Keller Classrooms Have Taken on the Challenge

Just this past Wednesday, February 6th, Keller Advisory classes took on a pledge to produce their own mini miracles in Keller and around the community. Some mini miracles include, but are not limited to: gathering mini collections for the Keller food and clothing pantry, sending kind notes (or e-mails) to family members, staff, and friends, emptying out classroom recycling bins, creating positive locker signs, cleaning up classrooms, and simply just saying hello to someone new you may pass in the hall.

One Arrow Equals One Act

Every kind note, every donation, every positive e-mail, every kind act will receive an orange arrow. This is NOT just limited to Keller Junior High students and staff. As a community member, you too can get in on the act! Simply ask a Keller student to get an orange arrow for you to fill out and return back to their teacher. This act will be placed upon the walls in the hallways of Keller.

So Let's See How Many Mini Miracles We Can Create Around Keller and in the Community!
