Crafts

Here are some fun and colorful crafts you can do at home!

Baby Hat

By: Munya N.

This project could work for any size hat. However, the hook I’m using would make the hat fit a newborn to a three month old baby. If you want to do this for older aged kids, use a bigger hook.

Materials

-Size 1 (5.5 mm) hook

-Size 4 worsted weight yarn

Sk= Slip knot

Hdc= Half double crochet

Ch= Chain

St= Stitch

Ss= Slip stitch

  • Start with a sk.
  • After our sk, ch two.
  • Now for row one, begin with 10 hdc in the second ch from hook (10hdc.)
  • Round two, make two hdc in each st around (20hdc.)
  • Round three, hdc in each st around (20hdc.)
  • Round four, make two hdc in each st around (40hdc.)
  • Round five, hdc in front loop, hdc in back loop of next st.
  • Repeat round five until the piece measures 5-5.5 inches.
  • Ss in the next st, cut your yarn. Sew in the ends.

This is a hat that will be sure to keep any baby warm throughout our frigid winters. Share with your own siblings or newly arrived family member as a token of your excitement!

Terrarium

By: Adina K.

I hope you are ready for spring, but in case you are not thinking that far ahead, then here is something you can make in anticipation of warmer weather.

Materials

  • Glass container withou a lid
  • Beach stones or gravel
  • Soil
  • Plants (I suggest you get plants like a cacti, aloe vera, mint, fern, and flowers.)

  1. Always wear gloves before handling soil and plants. Put the soil in the empty glass container.
  2. Input your plants carefully.
  3. Next, lay your stones around the plants.
  4. This step is optional; you can add moss and decorative items in your terrarium.
  5. Lastly, let's not forget to water these plants everyday and give them plenty of sunshine.

Bead Bracelets

By: Pranjali P

Materials :

Any type of beads

Clear stretchy cord

1. First, pick a choice of the same or different color beads

2. Then, choose a length that fits your wrist

3. Before you insert any beads, tie on end so they don't slip off before you put them in

4. Then, insert the beads onto the cord, also tie off the other end

5. After tying the following thread, you can bring it altogether and then fasten exactly four times. If you do it any less it will be to loose and slip off, so you NEED to tie it four times or more

Now, you have your own bracelets that you can wear or give to someone. Hope it goes well for you!
