The subject of my zentangle value strip is a strip of 10 boxes and each boxes gets darker as it goes to the right.
This artwork was made by first making a 1 in border around the 10 boxes, I then drew different shapes/patterns in each box and colored them with pen with a different value each time.
I chose to use these specific shapes/patterns because each pattern provided different values which is what I needed in this piece of art.
One composition rule I used was pattern because each square has a different pattern in it. I also used contrast because there is some contrast between the lightest and darkest square.
My project evolved because as I continued to color in the different squares I began to have to add more to some squares to make them look different.
The meaning behind this artwork is like how everyday is different, sometimes there's dark days and light days, sometimes theres simple day and confusing days. That is also how it connects to my life because I have those days.
This artwork could be stronger because I could have made my dark lines darker, so it would be easier for them to get lighter.
