The subject of my creation was a sunrise that I took a photo of and converted it to a textured painting. The work was made using the grid technique and then acrylic paint. I chose to create this specific piece of artwork because I really like the picture and I thought it would look cool as a painting. I used color with the paint and movement with the texture I added in the water.
Some composition rules and techniques that are showcased include, soft focus with some areas in the sky and informal balance among the colors all throughout the painting. My project evolved because in the beginning I was just going to paint it but then I realized I needed to add something else, so I chose texture.
The meaning behind this art is a nice “abstract” sunrise that I took at 5 am while on vacation. Sometimes you have to do something that you may not want to do in the moment, but you’ll be glad you did in the end. This project relates to my life because it is a picture I took on one of my favorite vacations I’ve been on. One thing I would change about my art is working on making it look more realistic and cleaner.
