Pure Contour

Pure Contour: Finn Johnston

Materials Used: Graphite

In this project I drew my shoe from three different angles. I then zoomed in on three different parts of my three shoes. In a later project, I chose my favorite of the zoomed in pictures and made an abstract shoe drawing. As for the rubber band drawing, I drew my hand in pure contour while I was holding a rubber band.

I did the show drawing by looking very closely at the features of my shoe. Once I had completed the detailed three different angles of my shoe, I simply chose the patterns that I thought would look the coolest in a zoomed in picture. In this project I worked hard at varying line weight and trying to make my shoes look realistic. For the hand with a rubber band, I did this by putting a rubber band on my fingers in a cool pattern while I drew with my other hand. I concentrated on the space around it versus the actual object.

I this project because I thought it would be interesting to see sections of my shoe zoomed in. I was happy with my work because I got to see some aspects of my shoe that I had never seen before. This project allowed me to look at my shoes in a new way. I did this project because I wanted to learn more about drawing hands without shading. I also wanted to try drawing while I was holding something in my other hand. This was a challenge but I was happy with my final product.
