This is an oil pastel portrait project I did in art. The assignment was to find a picture and grid it. We also gridded our drawing paper and drew the picture on our paper square by square, but instead of drawing the exact replica of that square, we blended all the colors in that square to make one color per square.
I did this by using oil pastels to draw all the colors in the certain grid and then using a tortillan to blend all the colors. I also did this by looking very closely to what was on the actual picture and trying to mimic the exact value and color in my drawing.
I did this project because I wanted to learn how to use oil pastels. I had used oil pastels a few times in my life but never to this extent. This project really taught me how to use oil pastels in a way that they were supposed to be used and how well they blend.
