Perspective

In my first piece, my assignment was to draw ten objects that would connect to a vanishing point if their lines continued. I did this project using graphite but because I was inexperienced with the concept of perspective, this piece turned out pretty unrealistic. To start off, some of my shape's lines went off into oblivion instead of intersecting the vanishing point. Also, some of my shapes did not look how they would look in real life. I did this drawing to become more familiar with perspective, so that the later, more elaborate projects would be easier for me.

For my second picture, our assignment was to draw a room in perspective. I did subway tracks with a station on either side. I did this piece using my basic knowledge of perspective. I used graphite and tried to create a piece that looked the most like a train station. I did this piece because although I had recently done a perspective piece, I wanted to become even more experienced, so I would be prepared for my final perspective drawing. This piece was my favorite piece I did the whole quarter because I loved the idea of a train coming from the vanishing point. This piece was also one of the most difficult because I had to have all my lines intersect with my vanishing point of they were to continue. Although I thought this piece turned out great, I could have varied line weight a little more and maybe I could have added color to enhance my work, but overall I was very happy with this piece.

My third piece was one that I wasn't too proud of. My assignment was to draw a hall in my school, using correct perspective. I did this project by sitting in the hall I was drawing with a graphite pencil and an easel and looking down the hall as I drew. I wanted to do this piece because I wanted to see my growth in perspective drawing but I was disappointed with my final product and I felt that it was a setback from my previous perspective drawing. This was the case because although I felt that I used proper perspective, I felt that I should have included more details like doors and bumps in the walls and it turned out a little plain.
