Gelatin Prints

The assignment for this project was to put certain designs on a piece of gelatin by placing certain objects like a lobster claws or wheat on the gelatin. We needed to make four different prints of different patterns and designs.

I did this project by putting ink on the gelatin and then adding my various objects. From there I placed a piece of paper on top of the gelatin and applied enough pressure to pick up the ink but not squish the gelatin. The objects blocked the ink from touching the paper in the places they were, so the objects turned out white and the places that didn't have objects on the gelatin tuned out blue on the paper. Then, once the prints were dry I hand manipulated them by adding color, sharpie and other details. However, for the third print from the left I didn't manipulate it because I thought it looked cool by itself.

I did this project because I wanted to learn how to work with gelatin. I had never done this before and I think my prints turned out really well. Now in the future, I will be more experienced with gelatin and I will be able to produce a better final product.
