Abstract Shoe Drawings

Shoe Zentangle: Finn Johnston

Materials Used: Sharpies, Graphite and Colored Pencils.

In this piece I drew my shoe from three different angles. I then zoomed in on three different parts of my shoe I had drawn and drew the zoomed in sections on one piece of paper. From their I chose my favorite one and drew that on a big piece of paper. I outlined the lines in black sharpie and made designs with colored sharpies.

I did this by finding my favorite design and then just using colors that went well together to create a design that I liked. I tried not repeat my designs and I really wanted my designs to look good together. I also decided to do two different types of media, (marker and colored pencil), because I wanted a cool contrast. It worked out well.

I did this because I wanted to improve my zentangle skills and become better at seeing which colors and shapes go well together. Some of the shapes and colors I drew together didn't look good, but it was a learning experience. I also wanted to see what it was like to change a boring shoe into a colorful bunch of patterns. Overall, I was happy with my result and I learned some valuable art information because of this project.
