Observational Drawings

The assignment for this project was draw a portrait while looking into a mirror. We used graphite to start and then charcoal to shade. I did this project by paying very close attention to the shape of my head and face. I also payed very close attention to my shoulder shape and the shadows on my face. I did this project because I wanted to become experienced with drawing a self portrait when I was moving.

Out of the few self portraits I have done in the past, most all of them have been drawn from a picture. This was the first one drawn from a mirror and I wanted to become more experienced with the idea.

For the second project, we were supposed to set up 4 mannequins and draw them in ink. I did this project by setting the mannequins in different positions and drawing them with cross hatching. I also worked really hard on getting the shadows perfect. I also did a colorful background to lighten up the picture. I did this because I wanted to learn how to draw mannequins and models better. I had never really drawn mannequins before and this was a good starter. Lastly, now in the future I can draw models better.
