Artist Inspired Research

Isobel Egan was born in Ireland and in 2005 graduated from the National College of Art and Design with a Masters in Ceramics. Her work is inspired by Phyllis Richardsons writing on architecture and writings on use of space. Her work explores space, fragility as she constructs mini environments with cities and houses. The use of squares and blocks in her pieces inspired me to choose her as some of the coolest ceramics can contain simple shapes like squares. Egan makes little compartment and cubes to represent hidden compartments in our lives and considers them to be mini architectures. The walls of the compartments represent boundaries that define personal integrity.
