In this project, the assignment was to paint a picture of anything you wanted, but it had to include 84 different colors.
I painted a picture of a cobra and put my 84 colors on the snake, in the clouds and on the ground. I did this by choosing the three primary colors (red, blue and yellow) and adding white and black to each. This provides seven colors for each primary because I can add different amounts of white for three different tints, then I can use the actual color for one and then mix black with the color in different amounts to make three more shades. I also did the same for many color combinations and secondary colors like green and blue-violet. I did this because I wanted to increase my work with many different colors. A lot of my work up to this point has used some color but not enough and when I draw at home, I don't use very much color either. With this project I used a lot of color and learned how to incorporate the many colors into the piece. Now I am knowledgeable of colors and where to use them and so I can use more color in future art.
As for the value strip, we simply chose a primary color and a secondary color and did value strips from light to dark for each of them by adding black and white on either side of the color by itself.
