BS in Criminal Justice - Juvenile Justice

Becky Ackerman has volunteered as Donor Chairperson for  Versiti Blood since 2016. Becky first got involved because she has two family members who would have died if they hadn’t received blood donations. She has donated over 11 gallons of blood herself (88 pints).  

Becky’s husband Ken is a loyal donor, and Becky’s 16 year old daughter started donating in 2023 and has already donated 2 pints. In her role as Donor Chairperson, she’s been facilitating, recruiting, and coordinating staff blood drives for 2 prisons, a probation office, and a parole office in Muskegon, MI.  Through her efforts, from 2016-2022, the organization has collected 826 units of blood which has saved over 2,400 lives. 

Versiti’s blood drive goal for 2023 is to have 1 new donor at every blood drive. Becky has had 4 new donors at all of the 2023 drives so far!  Becky hopes to meet & exceed all of the blood drive goals in 2023 and to inspire many new blood donors because of this story.
