Athen volunteers with Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership - Oregon (HOBY). HOBY is a global youth leadership program for high schoolers.

Athen attended HOBY Oregon as an ambassador for her high school, and has returned to volunteer every year since. She has been a part of the media team, facilitated, and has now been director of staff for the past three years, and loves it! Athen’s role focuses on recruiting, training, and supporting the facilitators before and during the seminar.

Athen says she finds joy in being a source of information and comfort for her team by providing any and all information before they need it. She loves mentoring the staff to explore their own leadership skills, and problem solving unique situations.
