Day 1: Comprehension Questions: Answer the following questions in full sentences!
Why was Chris upset?
What did Dad suggest Chris should do, since he was so upset
What did Chris show at school?
What does the saying “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” mean?
Do you think it is okay to have a website for ugly animals? Why do you think that?
What change did Chris make on his poster? Why?
What did the other children at the school do?
Day 2: Vocabulary: Choose an interesting word from the list below:

Clutching
Complete the vocabulary task using the word you chose
Day 3: Sequence Chart: Create a Sequence Chart by illustrating the 5 main parts of your story in the chart below.
Day 4: Vocabulary!
Find 10 words in the story that you found difficult or challenging to read. Write what they are and their definition. To extend yourself; find 2 synonyms (words that mean the same thing) for each!
Day 5: Drama Fun! Choose one of the Drama activities below to complete with a family member :)
Write the story as a play script and act it out for someone at home. Use props! Be Creative! :)
Choose a paragraph in the story and practice reading it aloud. Perform your dramatic reading to someone at home.
Pretend you are Chris from the story and you are being interviewed by a family member. Get them to ask you the questions below and respond as if you are Chris. (Remember, you must act the way he acts in the story!

Why is the Kākāpō so important to you?
How will your petition help make change?
What about the other animals on the list? Shouldn’t they get taken off as well? Why/Why not?
What is a message you would give to anyone watching this interview?
