Weekly Poem - Cloud

Here are some activities for this week:


Monday - Read the poem two times. Find words with the sound /ou/ . Draw a picture of a cloud.


Tuesday - Look at the word ‘white’. It has a split digraph /i-e/. Can you make 2 more words with the same sound /i-e/ e.g kite.


Wednesday - Can you spot the word chunk ‘ight’ inside a word bright? What other words can you make if you change the initial sound of the word ‘bright’ with these sounds kn, sl, fl? Read the new words to your family member.


Thursday - Zoom in to the word ‘rain’. Can you think of some words that rhymes with rain. List them down. E.g rain, pain, main


Friday - Look outside your window. Write a simple sentence that describes the cloud you saw. Make sure to use two or more describing words.

Just like the gardener, it’s time for you to create your own maze.


Make a list of items/features your maze is going to have. For example, you may have very tall trees or bushes. You must have an entry point and an exit point. You will need a blank piece of paper for your maze. Once you are finished, ask a family member to test out your maze and give you feedback

  • Word ending -ing


Spelling rules for adding -ing:

- With a short vowel sound before the consonant, the final consonant is doubled, e.g. stopping.

- With a short vowel sound and two consonants, we add -ing, e.g. dressing.

- With a long vowel, we simply add -ing, e.g. sweeping

- Words ending in e, we remove the letter -e and add -ing, e.g. living.


Change the root words by adding -ing to them. Write the words on the lines.
