Weekly Poem - Happy Diwali
Last week many families in New Zealand and across the world celebrated Diwali. Have a go at reading this poem about the important celebration:
Monday: List two activities that happen during Diwali:
Tuesday: Can you think of another word that the writer could have used instead of children and presents? Fill in the space with your different word:

Wednesday: Zoom in to the word smell. Can you think of any rhyming words for smell? E.g well, spell. Write down all the words you can think of.
Thursday: Have you seen firecrackers before? Watch this video of a firecracker display during Diwali last year.
What words could you use to describe these fireworks? E.g huge, magnificent.
Friday: We can see beautiful rangoli art during the week of Diwali. Use some crayons to design your own colourful rangoli.

Activities
Draw a picture of a cat with a big tummy, then cut and paste the pictures from out of a grocery mailer to show what Greedy Cat might like to eat.
